Good spot with lots of space to pull over. I did get told off by the highway maintenance people but just went back to the spot when they left. Eventually got a ride to Albertville even though traffic was pretty minimal.―Arcturus

Low traffic and although people are friendly, most are going towards Lyon. If going north towards Switzerland I would recommend not using a sign or use a sign for Albertville because Chamonix was definitely too far and small. Ended up getting a ride with a shepherd going to the alps to his farm near the Italian border. Unfortunately I was going hiking in Switzerland so I stopped at the service station before the turnoff towards Italy but at least I got a beer.―Arcturus

Lots of cars but it was getting dark. Plenty of space after the toll station for people to stop or slow down and read my sign for Chamonix but most people were going a short distance or towards Grenoble. I ended up taking a ride towards Grenoble and I was going to get off at the last toll station before the turnoff towards Grenoble as I was heading towards Chamonix but there was so many police checking all vehicles and asking questions at this toll station that I ended up continuing to Grenoble staying the night there.―Arcturus

There's an elongated parking spot to the right after the toll, where people can stop easily before they speed up. Had lost of cars even crossing from the further side of the road. Sign Chambery, got me to the Gare. Should be perfect for going direction Italy too, and getting long rides.―friki
